“Let go of what no longer serves you and make room for the authentic you.”
-Robert E. Staub, II

Take out a piece of paper and make the longest list possible of all the ways that you define yourself. Think of: gender, physical attributes, character traits; human relationships, cultural heritage; career, talents, skills, etc. Rank these descriptions with (1) being what you MOST identify with on down the list. Next, cross off the description with the highest number, namely that which you least identify with. Now ask yourself, “If I am no longer identified with this quality/trait, then who am I?”
Ultimately work your way back to asking, “If I no longer identify with any of these traits or ways of thinking and acting, what opens up inside me? What space have I created?
What can begin to move through me that would be more enlivening and empowering?
